This program is free for West Michigan Veterans.
Join women veterans from across West Michigan for an interactive professional development experience built around shared military experience, practical learning, and meaningful connections.
Military service gives us valuable experience in leadership, decision-making, risk management, and problem solving. This workshop creates an opportunity to build on those strengths while connecting with other women veterans, exchanging perspectives, and exploring how we can continue to grow in our careers, communities, and everyday lives.
Help Spread the Word
Know a West Michigan woman veteran who might enjoy joining us?
Shared Experience. New Connections.
There is no single woman veteran experience. We served in different branches, held different roles, and followed different paths after military service. Yet we share experiences that aren't always fully understood by those who haven't served. Those shared experiences can provide a valuable foundation for professional relationships.
This program brings women veterans together to exchange ideas, learn from different perspectives, and build connections that support continued professional growth.
The goal isn't simply to meet other veterans. It's to create opportunities for meaningful conversations, collaborative learning, and relationships that can continue beyond the workshop.
What to Expect
This is a working session, not a lecture.
Throughout the two hours, we'll combine short teaching segments with facilitated discussion, practical scenarios, and small-group collaboration.
We'll explore four connected areas:
Leadership: Recognizing the leadership experience we already bring, including leadership beyond formal authority.
Risk: Understanding what we can control, evaluating the risk that remains, and making deliberate decisions.
Learning: Exploring what success, failure, and the circumstances surrounding both can teach us.
Structured Problem Solving: Understanding problems, examining evidence and assumptions, and looking beyond a single cause before jumping to solutions.
Participants will have opportunities to share experiences from military service, consider how those experiences apply in civilian settings, and learn from the different perspectives of other women veterans.
No particular rank, leadership title, or management experience is required. If you've made decisions, adapted when plans changed, managed risk, or helped a team move forward, you already have experience to contribute.
What You'll Take With You
By the end of the workshop, our goal is for participants to leave with:
New professional connections with women veterans in West Michigan
Fresh perspectives from women with different military and civilian experiences
Practical approaches to leadership, risk, learning, and problem solving
A greater appreciation for how their existing skills and experiences can contribute to continued professional growth
Ideas and connections they can build on beyond the workshop
The learning is valuable. So are the people you'll meet along the way.

But this program is also personal.
“I wanted to create a space where women veterans could build on what we already know, learn from one another, and make new connections here in West Michigan. I’ll bring some tools and questions to get us started, but there will already be a lot of knowledge in the room before I teach anything.”
